NYE
Happy New Year everyone! Make this new year one to remember!
A group of us brought in the new year at Republic Live, in Downtown Austin. It was a blast. Overcrowded, smelled horribly, and full of drunks as expected, but still a blast.
There was a mild hiccup, that I would like to share from the night:
At about 1am, some drunk dude starts dancing on one of the speakers next to the DJ’s booth and showering everyone below him with champaign. When he finished the bottle, for some reason, I am not entirely sure what he was thinking, but he decides to just chunk this bottle into the crowd with no regard for anyone’s safety. “Hey I wonder how I could look even more like a jackass, oh I know! I’ll throw this empty, heavy bottle into the crowd.”
I witnessed in slow motion as the bottle was released from the douche bag’s hands, spun into the air and smacked my roommate in the head. It happened so fast that it took a minute for him to figure out the bottle kissed him, at first he was confused followed by anger. The rest of us are wondering if he is ok. The guy on top of the speaker quickly jumps off that speaker when he realizes what the hell he has just done. I run up to the prick’s friend and shared some not so pleasant words with the guy. I turn around to check on my roommate and has the look of murderer on his face. He was pissed, I would have been too. I just couldn’t read his next move, I immediately prepare myself to start throwing elbows if need be. But he just stood there, with the most intense stare ever.
I started telling like three different guys that I assumed worked there, “my roommate got hit with a fuckin’ champaign bottle”, as if I was running to my mom to tell on someone. One of the prick’s friends pulls my roommate aside and offers him a $20. (Which definitely isn’t worth it). My roommate is a nice guy though and even though he was pretty pissed off, he just took it and walked off. Now if I had been in that situation, I would have been holding my neck, leaning forward like I couldn’t breath, and just pretty much dramatizing the hell out of everything…
Well…I hope everyone had a very safe New Year, remember to always have a DD when you go out, or at least a Taxi. Please don’t endanger yourselves as well as others on the road. (I was paid for that last sentence. Ok, no I wasn’t.)
